Humor in Five Seconds

I suspect you won’t get this one unless you are over 50.  This might be the shortest video on You Tube.  Enjoy!

Wishing those who celebrate Mondays Fun, Halloween, share some photos in your comments if you can!

Have a good week.

EXERCISE TO PREP FOR THE DAY

imageThis should get me going on this Northwest Pacific rainy gray day. Puff puff.  Notice there’s a mattress and a pillow right next to the bike.

How about you folks? What primes you to hit your day running?

Readers and Writers – Enjoy

Kurt Vonnegut shares a simplified graph delivered with unique wit, showing three basic story structures.

Readers, Aspiring writers, Young writers, Children, Experienced writers, can all sit back and enjoy this clip.

Can you think of a good book that didn’t follow one of the 3 curving lines on the graph?

Reading provides an opportunity to experience emotion, live the story with the characters, and hopefully close the cover (or shut off the e-reader) uplifted by a happy ending but  feeling a bit sorry that you must leave the characters behind.

Some literary fiction explores deep problems of the human condition and seeks to increase reader understanding, but there is no resolution.  Nothing uplifting. Ouch.

But for today, I hope this video makes you smile.

Monday, A Fresh Start

Did the rest of you get blind-sided by Monday as well?

Made late night weekend efforts to keep up with online Blogging class by Kristen Lamb, based on her book  We are not Alone: Writer’s Guide to Social Media

Hubby & I had tall, dark and handsome neighbor join us  for dinner last evening, but beyond that he is a fascinating man, a sound professional for the entertainment  industry.   Do those of you who write check out folks, either strangers or people known to you, for possible characters in your stories?  Sometimes I get caught staring, trying to find the words to describe a particular look or facial expression.

Lurking behind the puffy grey & white clouds, I can see some blue sky giving false promises, over the windowsill loaded with writing craft books, most of which I’ve read.  Twice.  Almost all the way through.  How many of us buy craft books and get a good start on them, but …

Would you enjoy  a chuckle to begin your week?   Husband Down in Aisle Three …

Husband Down

A husband and wife are shopping in their local Wal-Mart.
The husband picks up a case of Budweiser and puts it in their cart.
‘What do you think you’re doing?’ asks the wife.
‘They’re on sale, only $10 for 24 cans’ he replies.
‘Put them back, we can’t afford them’ demands the wife, and so they carry on shopping.

A few aisles further on along the woman picks up a $20 jar of face cream and puts it in the basket.
‘What do you think you’re doing?’ asks the husband.
‘It’s my face cream. It makes me look beautiful,’ replies the wife.
Her husband retorts: ‘So does 24 cans of Budweiser and it’s half the price.’
